Colosseum and The Forum
Today we went to the Coliseum, historically
known as the Flavian Amphitheater. To get the coliseum we had to trek through a
thunderstorm to meet with our guide. She guided us through the ancient ruin;
explaining the rich history, bloody battles, and much more. We learned about
the different gladiators and the social classes of ancient Rome. The pictures
were plentiful and amazing. As we walked the halls we could almost hear the
cheers of the 60,000 people who used to be here.
Next
we went to The Forum. The Forum was the place where the politicians of Ancient
Rome gathered to talk about important political matters. We learned the history
of the Emperors and the stories to go with many of them; such as the fall of
the republic and the rise of the age of Emperors. Afterwards we went and got
the supposedly best gelato in Rome. Once we returned to the hotel, everyone had
a long nap after the long day.
