Day of Trips to
Lamborghini Museum or Tuscan Winery
On July 15, 2013 we split into 2
groups. One went to visit a Tuscan winery, the other to the Lamborghini museum.
I cannot speak to how the winery was, as my passion being automobiles I just
had to see the Lamborghini museum. There should be a separate blog about the
winery, so please do read it as well! But as for the museum, it was a
remarkable excursion. They had the more notorious of the older Lamborghinis,
showing the progression of the company’s design over the years. As well, they had
some one-off versions of cars such as a 40th anniversary
reinterpretation of the Miura and a Concept S, of which only two were built.
They also had an Aventador mounted on the wall, which was… let’s say, an
interesting way to save floor space. Another rare car on display was the
renowned Lamborghini Gallardo Police Car. There were only two of these
manufactured, both for the Italian traffic police. However, they were not for
regular policing. They were instead used for high priority medical emergencies,
each being fitted with AEDs and even a compartment for storing organs for
transplants. Who knew? A Lamborghini that can safely transport human organs,
even on rainy or snowy roads… I want me one of those! (Any car enthusiasts to
back me up on this?)
After visiting the factory, we took
the bus back to Bolognese for lunch. Mr. Graansma shared a big pizza with three
of the guys. And when I say big, I mean HUGE! This pizza was like no other I
have ever seen before!
So long for
now,
The students
