The Guiness Storehouse
Our trip to the Guinness Storehouse was the first of our group trips in the beautiful city of Dublin. Located in the heart of St. James’s Gate Brewery, the Guinness Storehouse is one of the most popular and well-known tourist spots in Ireland. The Storehouse has seven floors surrounding a glass atrium shaped in the form of a pint of Guinness. The self-guided tour introduces the beer's ingredients, the brewery's founder, Arthur Guinness, the history of Guinness advertising and everyone made sure to check out the massive gift shop to bring home some brewery souvenirs for family and friends. The seventh floor houses the Gravity Bar with absolutely amazing panoramic views of Dublin. Unfortunately we left without having a drink of the famous pint but the excursion overall was very interesting to go to. Afterwards, we were all given free time to explore Grafton Street, a pedestrian shopping street, for some walking around and shopping before dinner. Though the day was packed with sightseeing and fun, everyone was ready to come back to UCD to start our mountains of homework.
